ABOUT
AFSCME 2474 is part of a much larger union whose 1.6 million members provide the vital services that make America happen. With members in hundreds of different occupations — from nurses to corrections officers, child care providers to sanitation workers — AFSCME advocates for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public services, and prosperity and opportunity for all working families.
AFSCME 2474 is a Twin Cities union of over 1000 frontline staff at Hennepin Healthcare, which includes Hennepin County Medical Center. We represent Medical Assistants, Mental Health Workers, Pharmacy Techs, Protection Officers, Nurse Licensed Practical, Social Workers, and many other job titles.
Our labor is at the heart of Hennepin Healthcare's public mission to provide outstanding care to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
The people who do the work also know the work best and deserve a place at the table. We use our intimate knowledge of the healthcare system to advocate for patients and improve care.
We've seen that 2474 is powerful when rank-and-file members participate. Our local is part of a labor movement that thrives on strength in numbers and mutual aid. The labor movement has dramatically improved the standard of living for working-class people across the country and around the world. By participating in our union, we do our small part to make life better in our workplace and community, and for future generations.
