ABOUT

AFSCME 2474 is part of a much larger union whose 1.6 million members provide the vital services that make America happen. With members in thousands of different roles — from nurses, corrections officers, and child care providers to sanitation workers — AFSCME advocates for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public services, and opportunity for all working families.

AFSCME 2474 is a Twin Cities union of 1400 frontline staff at Hennepin Healthcare, which includes Hennepin County Medical Center. Our members include Medical Assistants, Mental Health Workers, Pharmacy Techs, Protection Officers, LPNs, Social Workers, Respiratory Therapists, and over 110 other job titles.

Our labor is at the heart of Hennepin Healthcare's public mission: providing outstanding care to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

The people who do the work also know the work best. That’s why we fight for a seat at the table—to use our knowledge of the healthcare system to advocate for patients and improve care.
We've seen that 2474 is powerful when rank-and-file members are engaged. Our union thrives on strength in numbers and mutual aid. The labor movement has lifted the standard of living for working-class people across the country and around the world. By participating in our union, we carry that tradition forward - making life better in our workplace, our community, and for future generations.
