Shine A Light on Hennepin Healthcare
Keep Minnesota's Public Institutions Accountable to the Public
In a break from decades of precedent, Hennepin Healthcare refuses to comply with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act by claiming salary data at our premiere Twin Cities safety-net hospital is now "private" and, therefore, unavailable to public accounting.
Since HHS went quasi-public in 2007, Frontline Staff have faced unrelenting attacks on our quality of life by administrators, who have forced wages to fall behind the cost of living and taken away key benefits, while Executive pay is skyrocketing.
Tell your Hennepin County Commissioner:
We're concerned that Hennepin Healthcare administrators are hiding wage and salaries data that would demonstrate rising class, gender, and race inequities. It's time to shine a light on Hennepin Healthcare. CEO Jennifer Decubellis and Labor Relations Director Sean Tolefree MUST comply with the Minnesota Data Practices Act. Salary data for public employees and administrators is NOT "private"or "confidential." There is no Equity without transparency and wages for ALL workers that keep up with inflation.

Excerpt from letter sent by Hennepin Healthcare administrators to AFSCME 2474:
"The 'Hourly Rate' requested is classified as public personnel data under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and is subject to release under the terms of the Act for government entities. Minn Stat. 13.43, subd. 2(1).
However, the Hennepin Healthcare enabling legislation also includes a provision specific to Hennepin Healthcare allowing it to withhold otherwise public data as competitive data if it determines that the requested data could cause competitive disadvantage to the corporation ... Hennepin Healthcare has determined hourly wages and salaries are competitive data. For this reason, the requested data is private data on individuals and not subject to release. Minn. Stat. 13.02, subd 12.
