AFSCME members employed at Hennepin Healthcare frequent the hospital food shelf to help make ends meet.

On the one hand, Hennepin Healthcare encourages employees to participate in the food shelf and recognizes food insecurity as a moral hazard. On the other, management has singled out some of the health system's lowest paid staff for sharp cuts; cuts that will push more employees to make use of the shelf for longer.
